Why You Should Work at Camp at Least Once in Your Life

Working at a camp allows you to create moments that contribute to a meaningful life. Every moment on the job makes you realize that what you’re doing isn’t merely a part of your job, but it’s more about building a life that matters for you and for everyone you’re serving.

Summer Support Staff FAQ

Where will I live?

SSS will live together as a community on-site at Whispering Winds. Living quarters consist of bunk beds in shared rooms. Males and Females will have separate housing, and minors will not share rooms with adults.

Are meals included?

Meals are included whenever we have campers on-site at camp, which is almost always during the summer!

Can I go home on weekends?

At camp, we have groups on site all 7 days a week, and our work schedules reflect that. While you will have days off, they will not always be on a weekend. You are, however, welcome to go home on your days off.

How many SSS will there be?

We are hoping to recruit around 6-10 awesome SSS!

What kind of groups will be at camp?

The summer is the best time of year to be at camp! We will host all types of groups from youth, families, and special groups like Life Teen and Camp Jack!

What will my duties look like?

The summer support staff will support all aspects of camp but focus on one specific department. Depending on your interests and skills, you will work primarily in camp maintenance, food service, or guest experience. All departments will have a hand in supporting Whispering Winds Family Camps.

Can I have my phone with me?

Yes, you are welcome to have your phone with you at camp, however, during work hours, you will be asked to put it away.

What would our work schedule look like?

SSS will generally work 5 days a week, however, there are special camps that require everyone to work odd hours or days.
