Enjoy some outdoor basketball in the mountains! Play a full-court game, half-court game, H-O-R-S-E, Twenty-one, Knockout, or Around the World.

Here are the rules for each of the games mentioned above:

  1. Full-Court Game: The traditional basketball game played on a full-sized court with five players on each team. The objective is to score points by shooting the basketball into the opposing team’s hoop. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
  2. Half-Court Game: Similar to the full-court game, but played on a half-sized court with three or four players on each team. The rules are the same, but with a smaller playing area.
  3. H-O-R-S-E: This is a shooting game played with two or more players. The first player takes a shot from anywhere on the court. If they make the shot, the other players have to replicate the exact shot. If they miss, they receive the letter “H.” The game continues with each player getting a chance to make shots. If a player spells out “H-O-R-S-E” by missing shots, they are out of the game. The last player remaining wins.
  4. Twenty-One: Also known as “21” or “American.” This game is played with three or more players. Each player takes turns shooting free throws. A made free throw is worth one point, except the final shot, which is worth two points. Players must make exactly 21 points to win. If a player goes over 21, their score goes back to 11 points.
  5. Knockout: Played with multiple players, this fast-paced game involves free-throw shooting. Players form a line and take turns shooting free throws. The objective is to make the shot as quickly as possible. If a player misses, they must quickly retrieve the ball and attempt to score before another player makes their shot. If a player makes a shot before the person in front of them, the person who missed is “knocked out” and has to sit out the rest of the round. The last player standing wins.
  6. Around the World: This game is played with two or more players. Starting from a designated spot, players take turns shooting from a series of different spots around the court (e.g., free throw line, baseline, wing, corner, etc.). If a player makes a shot from a spot, they advance to the next spot. If they miss, they must keep shooting until they make it before moving on. The first player to go all the way “around the world” and make shots from all spots wins.

Remember to stay hydrated, bring some snacks, and have a great time playing basketball in the beautiful mountain setting!

Who helped our dream of building a basketball court at camp a reality?

We are thrilled to express our heartfelt gratitude to generous donors who contributed to the Matthew Miller’s Eagle Scout Project that made our dream of building a basketball court in the mountains a reality.

Thanks to unwavering support and belief in our vision, we were able to create a space that brings joy, camaraderie, and healthy activity to our camp community year after year. Donor contributions have not only supported the Matthew Miller’s Eagle Scout Project, but also fortified Whispering Wind’s commitment to fostering a sense of togetherness in our community through sports and recreation.
