Whispering Winds Challenge Course
What is offered at the Whispering Winds Challenge Course?
HIGH ELEMENTS
These are designed for a personal self-growth. Great for groups that want free-time to allow participants to be active and challenge their members. All activities must be led by trained facilitators.
CLIMBING WALL
We offer a 3 sided climbing tower with a variety of options. One side is designed with a gradual incline to cater to the younger and newer crowd. This is a great way to try climbing before being vertical. We have two additional walls that are vertical, one with an over-hang option for our really ambitious climbers. Participants must be harnessed in at all times.
ZIP LINES
We offer four 450+ feet Zip Lines. Participants are harnessed in at the top and Zip down the line at a thrilling speed! Our zip lines have been upgraded with the newest technology available - hydraulic dismount systems. Whispering Winds is the only facility with hydraulic dismounts west of Colorado and one of only 10 total in the U.S. The hydraulic dismount lowers participants directly to the ground after zipping. Our newly improved Zip Lines are now open!
For information about reserving our Challenge Course, call our main office at (619) 464-1479.
LOW ELEMENTS
Low Elements are designed for group and personal growth. All activities must be led by trained facilitators. Low Activities are best for groups wanting to work group communication, teambuilding, problem solving, group dynamics, leadership identification just to name a few. We create a program based on your goals and objectives and select activities that support your mission for the day. We try to incorporate as much, or as little, of the terminology from your group as possible. This can be used in combination with our High Elements.

PORTABLES

They are designed to assist team functions and growth. We are able to move these to other locations if your group so desires, such as the field or inside during cooler/rainy months.
How can your group benefit from a Challenge Course?
A challenge course provides a unique environment which propels groups toward innovative solutions in conquering both physical and mental encounters. Challenge/Ropes courses are a revolutionary tool for developing and enhancing group dynamics. Each group will receive a specially tailored program, based in their groups individual needs.
During the guided sessions, groups can expect to build on any of the following: communication skills, group trust, and problem solving abilities, while improving mutual support and cohesion. Individual participants will increase their personal confidence, develop a heightened level of agility and physical coordination, discover joy in one's physical self and in being with others, and appreciate familiarity and identification with the natural world.

How to best prepare for your day at the Whispering Winds Challenge course:
The Challenge Course is a blessing that was created from a very unfortunately situation - the fires of 2003. Although Whispering Winds camp lost many of their buildings and most of the vegetation - the camp was renewed with a new spirit of growth and rebuilding.
It is our responsibility to protect the fragility of the environment that still exists at this site. Please prepare yourself as much as you can before to help protect this day and the mission of the camp. Stay on trails/roads, pick up all food/water bottles and only use the restroom facilities that flush. Most of all come ready to have a fun time and challenge you in new ways!!!
What to wear and bring:
Closed-toed Shoes
Shoes with a closed-toe and back/heel are expected - no sandals.Comfortable Clothing that permits movement
Remember for those doing the Zip Line or Climbing Wall, wear longer shirts/shorts that will cover the harness area.Layering
Noted in the name of the camp there can be winds that swoosh through, so bring layers (yes, even in the summer).SPF/Sunscreen
Remember this area is extremely exposed and higher in elevation than many of the areas you live, so protect yourself for a day in the sun.
Water Bottle
There are plenty of places to refill, but you will need a water bottle!Hat and Sunglasses
Highly recommended but optional.A Great Attitude!
Come ready to challenge yourself and your group and most of all, be ready to have fun!
