WHO WE ARE

Whispering Winds Catholic Camp & Conference Center is a refuge, a place where people can get away and hear God's voice in the beauty of nature. Nestled in the Cuyamaca Mountains, Whispering Winds is located on 161 acres in the scenic Cleveland National Forest, five miles south of the historic gold-mining town of Julian - about an hour's drive from San Diego.

We are a lay directed, tax-exempt, nonprofit corporation formed with the goal of providing a Christ-centered camp and conference center for youth, individuals, couples, families and groups. The only Catholic-based camp of its kind in all of Southern California, Whispering Winds is open to all faiths, serving the Catholic communities of Southern California and Arizona with spiritual enrichment opportunities.

In 1978, Whispering Winds started with only $25 and a dream by co-founders Don Kojis and the late Jerry Tisi, along with the support of many Catholic families. The land was dedicated by the Bishop of San Diego for the purpose of ministering to the Catholic community, to bring His message and His good news to people of all ages.

Today, Whispering Winds can currently accommodate groups of many sizes. The camp is the perfect setting for retreats, conferences, corporate events and many other programs.
